Connecting to a Community In a digital age most communication is done through texts, facebook, or other similar methods. In the yoga studio we leave these devices outside and practice alongside other people. Being able to share your authentic self with others helps to create something really powerful. At the end of a yoga class you’re feeling more peaceful which will allow you to express your feelings without fear of being judged. It is in this manner that we can find a community that we can connect with. That we can share ourselves and our energy with.
I love the people. I am happy walking in and the great community that has formed. I know most of them don’t know what I do for a living, if I am married or single, how many kids I have or my name for that matter. It’s actually part of what I love about it. It’s my safe haven without judgement.
I look forward to seeing my friends in the yoga community. For a few years I attended yoga every day and still do go almost every day. I can choose to do yoga at home if I want but I enjoy the energy of being in a yoga class with other people. I can feel the energy of the people next to me and use that to help me get through a particularly intense session. Or I can use it to steady my mind and bring the focus back into the room. I also love seeing how yoga helps to heal people; how it brings a sense of worth, fulfillment, and happiness to our lives. Spending time in any community can bring about these feelings, but to me this yoga community is where I belong.
I do yoga because I’ve fallen head over heels in love with the practice of it. It makes me happy, and it gives my brain a needed rest. Yoga has made my body healthier (and perpetually sore, but in a good way – the best possible way!). My self-confidence is higher than it’s ever been, and I find myself inadvertently smiling happily at strangers wherever I go. This has led to several unexpected encounters. I am much more approachable than I used to be, and I think that this is a good thing. I like that people want to talk to me.Yoga is the reason that I’m part of an amazing community, one that I can’t imagine being without. Spending time with others who love the practice of yoga as much as I do (if that’s possible) makes me feel a connection that I never knew was possible. In becoming the yogi that I am, I’m a part of something that’s amazing and wonderful.
How Yoga Helps With Making Me Happier Yoga is connecting to yourself. Spending time with yourself is something that we rarely take time for let alone practice. Often times people leave a yoga class in a ‘yoga bliss’. Studies show that a consistent yoga practice will lead to significant increases in serotonin levels and a decrease in cortisol. A consistent yoga practice decreases stress and improves depression. The yoga bliss you feel can become more frequent and help you to feel happier on a more consistent basis.
